State of
the art Process Measurement Technology
Our
Photometers detect the Absorption (light weakening) or the Transmission
(light conductivity). The internal Transmission Density can be
calculated from both values. Regarding the required measurement result,
the calibration is based on the altering of these values during
processing.
For the measurement, light rays are used that pass
through the material to be analyzed (liquids, gases and foils) or that
are reflected by the material to be analysed (solid matter). The choice
of the measurement wavelength depends on the measurement task. It is
possible to apply light wavelengths from the Ultraviolet spectrum (UV),
Visible spectrum (VIS) or Infrared spectrum (IR).
The reflection
method is chiefly used to measure the moisture in building materials,
powders, granulates, natural products, sweets and tobacco. Other
important applications can be identified in the wood industry, food
industry and pharmaceutical industry. In the steel industry, we measure
the wet-film thickness (water films) of liquids to prevent corrosion on
metal sheets.
The measurement of the water content in liquids
and gases is possible by the transmission method. As a further example,
the measurement of Chlorine in Phosgene or the contamination of cooling
water and waste water shall be mentioned.
Regarding the car
making industry, we supply process photometers to measure the water
content in brake liquid, and to measure the moisture and thickness of
foils (PVB) in laminated glass for windshields.
All measurements
are continuous. Thus, the productivity of process measurement
instrumentation is improved because these enable a process automation.
